Back when I was maybe 10-12 I lived in this horrible apartment and when we moved it was the greatest time of my life.
But upon watching the video from this (http://www.ktvb.com/news/localnews/stories/ktvbn-jan2709-townhome.b3e3f49.html) link I feel sad that now the good memories are somewhat gone...
My mother and I went over and saw the damage first hand. It brought back a lot of memories. Some good some bad...
The apartments looked horrible. The back area always looked bad but not as bad as they do now.

holy crap is that a trailer park next dooor?!?!?! No wonder you were happy to get out of there!! http://dothackportal.com/forums/images/smilies2/tongue.png
What I didn't understand about the news report I read on it last night was that the man living in the first apartment was able to move in with his WIFE that lived in the neighborhood? wtf?
Anyways, I understand about having the mixed emotions about it. It like when someone who was never really a friend... more of an enemy passes away. For some odd reason you are still sad about it, even though for years you swore you wished they were dead. Being human has its moments like that though.

Perhaps its the fact that you lost something that was once very familiar to you? No matter what it is, whenever you have prolonged exposure to something, you form some sort of emotional association with it, be it negative or positive. When you lose it, or it is thrown away, a void is left because that association is gone.
On a brighter note, at least you weren't in it when it burned down http://dothackportal.com/forums/images/smilies2/biggrin.png

That's a good way to put it. The void will close eventually, but whether it leaves a scar is mainly up to you. I don't see that happening over an apartment complex, but I'm not you, so...*shrugs*
If you did end up in it, you could at least boast that you caught fire...
