Portal has a Sister!

Ok Icy and I have been working on a sister site for portal for some time. It is getting closer and closer to being launched. Now we call on our members here for help.

If you love anime and watch it enough to feel comfortable to write reviews/ summaries, please PM me or Icy about it.

We also would like to have some QA staff, and we are going to need forum staff. To get a look at whats going on please go to
http://animeinformant.com it is a lil messy right now as we are customizing it, but it is live so we need to get some content going.

LOL as it says on the main site over there.. if you have to ask then you shouldn't apply. But for you guys I will explain.

QA means Quality Assurance. You job basically is to report any site problems to either Icy, reikoshea, or me. Making sure all the links, applications, images, and such work. Testing out any new content. They are also to take complaints from site members. They are the site admins right hand man.

But it's a really cool idea, and I'd want to help, if I only watched more anime and if I could write like that.
I mean, I can, just not with that much emotion. And I'm a bad critic.

I'm pretty good at finding dead links. I recently reported one to CNet's Download.com site. Guess it was out of date and no one realised that it was dead. Anyway's, if there are any QA spots available, I'd ike to apply for one.

Also, make sure you keep an eye on your phpBB forum. They get attacked by spam bots and spam registrants more than any other forum, course I could be wrong but it sure seems like that. If it's not to late to change, you can try WBB Lite 2, it's pretty nice and the admin panel is quite friendly for a basic free version of WBB 3 (just my honest opinion though from personal experience), not to mention add-ons/mods as well as skins are easy to install, its all done through the ACP rather than editing the forum files by hand.

Yea we have gotten hit already, and we can't find a better way to avoid it either. Until we move it to another server we have no email checks right now.. yay fun.

As for the positions, we will let you guy know shortly. We do need alot of people writing right now as we are going to have a placed ad in 12k+ programs at A-Kon 20 this year, so yea kinda want more content by then LOL. As for QA we are only looking for 2 people to fill them so if you are wanting to apply for it please do so soon.

Just announced:

We have 1 new staff member so far.... VASHNIK :)

He is a member of the QA team. He will be assisting the site admins and techs in everything that they do. He will be in charge of testing and reporting. If anyone sees any problems with the main site (animeinformant.com )like broken links, forms not working, ect, please get in touch with Vashnik so he may check it out and report it to the admins.

We still need alot of writers! We also need one more QA person. Please note when applying for QA to please let us know any web dev/prog knowledge that you have as this is what we are looking for in our QA staff members. I know it seems like it wouldn't matter much, I mean everyone can figure out something is not working, but it takes someone with a little knowledge of the languages everything is written in to let us know what they think the problem might be.

Ok I have been stuck at home for weeks now, so I decided to take advantage of it. I created a page showing the entry level positions we are seeking people to fill. You can read up on it here:

Now you will see the journalists have been broken down into many parts. From now on thats how staff will be broken up there. Now as for Shiki, Buni, Nin, and everyone else that has already been writing there, they will all remain over the entire site. Everyone can change what they write about whenever they want to, but they will always have to produce more of what they chose as their position than anything else.

Alot of things have been changed and updated on AI. With this I am finding that I don't always have time to do my promotional work (submitting url into directories, updating and resubmitting sitemap, taking all the images journalists are hotlinking and saving them to the server so we may host them ourselves.) If you have knowledge of using FTP and writing in XML, HTML, CSS, and any other languages ; please let me know as we need another person on the staff to assist me in all these duties.

Also we are opening a new journalist position for Industry Journalist. Their job will be to write about the studios, distributors, voice actors, and what not. Please let us know if you are interested.

Tomorrow ReikoShea and I will be funding a major change to the AI forums in order to protect our members.

We will be switching from phpBB to VBulliten. phpBB was nice due to it being completely free, but it has issues with spam that I don't have the time or staff to control. The bots have been getting into areas that make me uncomfortable, and our ability to protect all ages groups from seeing certain things broke.

The cost of the license is a bit high, but we feel it will be worth it in the long run. Our number 1 priority is giving all of you a great community to enjoy. After talking it over with Icy (yes I talked site business over my honeymoon, so shoot me) it has become clear that we all stand in agreement on this issue.

We are pretty sure we can migrate all of the user info over. If not some of you may need to re-register. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you guys. We hope to see you guys posting and being active on all 3 of our awesome communities.
